Greetings and Welcome to the Real Plum of the South,

I am Cori Emani Smith, Chapter President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Pearl Bearing Sigma Chapter. I am proud to represent this supreme sisterhood on the campus of Clark Atlanta University (CAU). Your interest in Sigma Chapter proves that our diligence and hard work in the community is making an impact to those around us.

Sigma Chapter was chartered on the campus of Clark Atlanta University on May 6, 1931 by nine outstanding students. Since then, the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. have been tirelessly giving back to the community and contributing to the spirit of greatness at CAU. Our organization was founded on the principals: Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service. Almost 100 years ago twenty-two collegiate women went on a mission to make their presence mean something more. They stood up for their rights as women while still serving the community.

Sigma Chapters stands firmly in our Five Point Thrust program. Throughout this year we will exemplify how Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated work to promote women around the world.

  • Economic Development: Provide support for the underserved
  • Educational Development: Promote academic excellence and provide scholarships
  • International Awareness and Involvement: Encourage participation in addressing issues that affect women and children around the world
  • Physical and Mental Health: Increase knowledge of health issues and disease prevention knowledge
  • Political Awareness and Involvement: Educate and stimulate participation in establishing positive public policy

During the next year and going forward, we intend to take our organization to the next level. We plan to innovate and expand Sigma Chapters programming which will enhance the services that the Delta Founders envisioned.
