Sigma Chapter was chartered on May 6, 1931 by 9 sensational ladies. They were inducted by Edna Morris.

“Pearl Bearing” Sigma chapter had its humble beginnings on May 6, 1931, when 9 sensational ladies were inducted into the illustrious sorority by Edna Morris. Despite many obstacles and challenges facing the newly chartered chapter, those 9 sensational ladies persevered and created a legacy at Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated that has been blazing strong for over 80 years.
